Chiefs , Churches Should Decide Government Development Agenda – ACAA

A former General Secretary of the Christian Council and a leader of the Presbyterian Church Ghana who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance For Christian Advocacy Africa, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong has called on churches in Ghana to come together with chiefs for national development.

Speaking at the Breakfast Meeting with Traditional Authorities event at the Emmanuel Congregation of Akyem Oda Presbyterian Church dubbed “equipping royals as the soul of the nation”, Rev. Frimpong stated that the widening gap between chiefs and the church needs to be done away with.

According to him, the church should work hand in hand with the traditional authorities to strengthen their faith and also make sure they are involved in decision making in government for socio-economic development.

He added that, this will help strengthen their friendship and brew love which would ensure collective effort towards the development of the various communities.

The Kontihene of Kotoku, Nana Obrempong Gyamfi Safro-Kyere also said that, the government needs to review the constitution to involve traditional leaders as main stakeholders and partakers in government business so that they can help the central government develop the nation.

The Member of Parliament of the Akyem Oda Constituency, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah also stressed that traditional leaders should be allowed to play a pivotal role in the political system of the country in order to improve the nation.
