The Omanhene,
Juaben Traditional Area,
Juaben Palace,
Juaben – Ashanti.

May I respectfully, convey to you, my heartfelt felicitations on your enviable 50th anniversary as Paramount Chief of Juaben Traditional Area.
Subsequently, kindly permit me to bring to your attention,  in all honesty, humility and in the spirit of unflinching allegiance and loyalty, a seemingly rising level of frustration and exasperations among the good people of Juaben, owing to the long ban on funeral rites as a measure to curb community spread of the novel Corona Virus pandemic.

While I applaud you for the leadership shown since the inception of the pandemic, I equally deem it a responsibility, to draw your attention to the unpopular new-normal, which requires bereaved families to lay their corpses in caskets for a few minutes at the Juaben Hospital Morgue and proceed, thereafter, to the cemetery for interment as if their death was of unnatural cause.
The ban on the use of public address system during one week observations which does not apply to other organised functions such as weddings, community durbars, church service, just to mention a few, amounts to injustice and emotional abuse in the opinions of the vast majority of the town folks.

Dasebre, as it may have come to your notice, with no intentions to speak ill of the people of Juaben, funerals of certain prominent people have recently taken place in the Ashanti Region with massive and sometimes uncontrollable scores of people, ranging from Academic, Politics, Judiciary, Traditional rulers, just to mention a few, in attendance.

The funeral of the late Dr. Amoako Tuffour was held in Kumasi on Saturday, 29th May, 2021, that of the late former CEO of the Forestry Commission, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was held on Thursday, 3rd June, 2021, Mrs. Cecilia Agyeiwaa Campbell, (sister of Agric Minister) was on Saturday, 5th June, 2021 at Apagyafie while the funeral of late sister of the majority leader in Parliament is being advertised to be held on 19th June, 2021 at no mean a venue, than the Patasi Police Depot. I dare say, what is good for the goose must equally be good for the gander.

May I respectfully conclude, that, funerals, which form important elements of our rich culture and customs with limited mourners at a particular time,  where all COVID-19 protocols are strictly adhered to, could be organised in Juaben without any fear of a possible community spread.

In the light of the foregoing, I wish to passionately appeal to your respectable self, to as a matter of urgency,  invoke your authority by directing the Funeral Committee, to spell out a road map to ease the current restriction to avert a looming parade of horribles as a result of this ban.

Once again, I wish you many more years of rulership in a peaceful environment and in sound health.
