Fire guts saw mill in Benin, destroys industrial machines and furniture
Fire has completely razed a saw mill at Akyem Asene in the Asene Manson Akroso district of the Eastern region.
The fire reduced the Mill to ashes and destroyed property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The fire, which is reported to have started around 1.00pm Wednesday, torched the entire structure which is mainly made of wood.
At the scene, most of the residents suspected someone actually burnt it with petrol.
The fire also destroyed several equipment including over five heavy duty sawmill machines, lumber of varying sizes and furniture.
It is unknown, what sparked the fire.
When Ahenkan News visited the scene, personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were still trying to extinguish the fire.
Speaking to the owner of the sawmill, Kwaku Owusu a.k.a Kwaku Azar also said, he suspect his own bro in-law called Koyo.
He added that, about a week now, Koyo came to his workshop and quarry with him on the land they are operating from.
It took three fire tenders to completely douse the blaze.
